Posted by elledanielle on August 4, 2009
Yesterday, I picked up a book called “How to Photograph Absolutely Everything” by Tom Ang, which covers approximately 350 different types of photography and subject matters. I’ve decided to work my way through the book. This should be fun. Tomorrow is day 1 of the journey.

Southern Soul Life: All-White Dinner Party
Posted by elledanielle on July 21, 2009
This past Saturday, Stephanie Donegan, owner of SouthernSoulLife.com, hosted an All-White Dinner Party for her mother’s 50th birthday. I was on hand to not only photograph the memories of the special evening, but to also capture the care and consideration that Stephanie put into executing the event. Everything had a true touch of southern charm and the food was delicious. Congratulations Stephanie on a job-well done!

July Candids
Posted by elledanielle on July 3, 2009
In the spirit of believing that a skilled photographer can take a good picture under any circumstances–in this case, without the child posing for the picture, without the parents dressing the child up to take pictures, and without the background of one of Birmingham’s best parks–I took a few candid photos of the children at my son’s daycare, while they were playing. I plan to do this exercise every month, at different locations, to challenge myself as a photographer.

Stephanie Donegan offers recipes to make your mouth water, catered lunches to impress your best clients, and in-home cooking instructions to help you prepare a restaurant-quality meal, on any day of the week. As if that is not enough to keep this single-mom busy, she also the author of a recipe book, the owner and editor of SouthernSoulLife.com, an online cooking magazine, and will soon be expanding her business further with a cooking school here in Birmingham, Alabama. Today, I took some casual photos of Stephanie for her website and marketing materials and will be working with her again in the near future for an upcoming dinner party. Check back later this month to see more of Stephanie and all her delicious food!

Vineyard Family Services Father Fest 2009
Posted by elledanielle on June 21, 2009
Today, I had the pleasure of taking pictures of families at Vineyard Family Service’s Father Fest event. The event was open to the public and offered free lunch, free games and inflatables, live music, free family portraits, and great door prizes.
VFS is a non-profit organization, based in Shelby County, that helps families by teaching men the skills necessary to be active and supportive fathers. Through the F.I.T. DAD program, participants learn to overcome the obstacles that have hindered them and caused them to not meet their obligations as fathers. The program also helps these men find employment, obtain their GED, understand their legal rights, and ultimately work towards making better life decisions.
